Meet our Founder

Mario Perez

People often ask why I chose to mentor young men.

The answer is simple.

Because I know what it feels like to go through some of the most important years of your life without someone you truly trust.

For many people, the hardest season of life comes during adulthood.

For me, it was fourteen.

At fourteen, I looked like I had everything together. I played sports, smiled, and tried to fit in. But beneath the surface, I struggled with confidence, identity, and wondering where I belonged. I wish I had someone I could trust—someone who would listen, challenge me, and remind me that who I was becoming mattered more than who I was trying to impress.

That experience never left me.

Over the last twenty years, I've coached hundreds of young athletes. While parents often saw practices and games, I experienced something different. After practice, boys stayed behind to talk. Not about soccer, but about friendships, pressure, confidence, family, rejection, and the uncertainty that comes with growing up.

That's when I realized something.

The greatest battles young men face aren't always on a field, in a classroom, or in a weight room.

They're fought in their minds.

Confidence isn't something a young man is born with.

It's built.

It's built when he keeps promises to himself.

When he learns to communicate with honesty.

When he faces rejection instead of running from it.

When he discovers the values he'll choose to live by.

When he understands that failure isn't the end of the story—it's often where growth begins.

That's why I created The Fourteen Project.

Not to replace parents.

To partner with them.

To be another trusted voice during one of the most important seasons of a young man's life.

Every one-on-one session is designed around one purpose:

Helping your son become more confident.

More resilient.

More self-aware.

More disciplined.

More prepared for adulthood.

I can't promise your son will never struggle.

No one can.

But I can promise he'll have someone in his corner who will encourage him, challenge him, hold him accountable, and remind him of the man he's capable of becoming.

Because I know what it's like to feel alone.

And I know what can happen when just one person believes in you before you believe in yourself.

I believe one trusted mentor, at the right time, can change the direction of a young man's life.

I know that because I spent years wishing I had one.

Today, my purpose is simple:

To be that mentor for someone else's son.

If I can help one young man discover his confidence, find his voice, and believe in who he is before the world tells him who he should be, then every challenge I've faced has served a greater purpose.

Welcome to The Fourteen Project.

Every young man deserves someone in his corner.
